Description

The objective of the CTPQ Concrete Field Inspector Specification course is to train technicians who must ensure that the concrete of the infrastructures of FDOT projects or those involved with the department comply with the project specifications and other contract documents. This requires standard testing to ensure the quality and parameters of concrete on the job site, including quality control, quality assurance, verification testing, and dispute resolution.

This course is necessary for technicians and professionals involved in projects of the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) for the construction of highways and bridges who need to inspect and accept the concrete material of the projects. The current federal laws of the United States (CFR 637B) require that the personnel involved in the reception, verification, and quality control of the materials must be formally qualified and certified. The objective of this course is to ensure that FDOT personnel (or anyone involved in their transportation infrastructure projects) comply with federal regulations.

  • Personnel qualified by the CTQP Concrete Field Inspector Specification have technical, specialized and up-to-date information on the FDOT website. This resource allows the classification and verification, at the laboratory level, of the qualities of the materials to be used in the projects, through the reports of the Materials Acceptance and Certification System (MAC Resources).
  • Providers authorized to deliver the FDOT Concrete Field Inspector Specification course are also authorized to deliver the Concrete Batch Plant Operator qualification exams.
  • To qualify for the Concrete Field Technician qualification (both Level 1 and 2) and the Concrete Laboratory Technician Level 2 qualification, one of the prerequisites is to have passed the FDOT Concrete Field Inspector Specification course written exam.
